PARIS, TN – Henry County School System is proud to announce the development of a new 4th and 5th Grade Intramural Basketball Program for their elementary schools.

The program is designed to go beyond the fundamentals of the sport, focusing on fostering a deep sense of belonging and ensuring increased access and opportunity for all students. By providing a structured athletic outlet within the school environment, the district aims to support both the physical well-being and the social-emotional growth of its upper-elementary students.

Director of Schools, Dr. Leah Watkins explained the initiative is a direct reflection of the system's Strategic Plan, specifically focusing on Student Belonging. "This initiative is about more than just the game itself," said Watkins. "It’s a powerful opportunity to build community within our schools and provide our students with the tools they need to succeed both on and off the court."
